Rebel
is a true Heinz-57 variety - not even his vet knows what breed he
is. He came to me as a stray puppy who I think ran away because he had
been tied up (there was a mark around his neck). It took me weeks to
leash train him. I had to walk backwards and coax him to me but he
finally got the hang it (too well I might add). Sometimes my best friend
and sometimes trouble with a capital T - I couldn't imagine my life
without him. People often make fun of his ears because they tend to go
in different directions all the time. But that just makes him more
approachable and they are God's gift to softness - they just beg to be
rubbed and scratched. Rebel's favorite thing in the whole world (besides
me) is a tennis ball. Whether at the park or in the living room, he
tries to coax anyone he can into throwing it for him. He makes me laugh
at the oddest times. One morning I woke up and looked across the bed and
he had quietly brought all his toys in one at a time and laid them
beside me and he was just sitting there with his ears cocked waiting for
me to get up and play! The expression on his face was priceless and I
got up laughing. It was a great way to start the day.
