Carl
is special to me because he is mine. I train Carl in obedience through
4-H. I took him to a dog show at the state fair and he won 1st place in
his class. I was so surprised, I knew he did good, but not that good!
When Carl isn't training with me he loves to sleep, eat, chase rabbits,
play with his other 4-footed doggy friend, and be petted.
Carl is named after the "Good Dog, Carl" books by Alexandra
Day. My Carl loves to chase squirrels, eat, sleep on his back, show off
with his toys, practice obedience, and play with his dog friend, Iris.
Carl does very well in obedience. He has his Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
and he got his first leg for his Companion Dog (CD) title this summer.
We go out and practice obedience every day and Carl just loves it! We
got Carl when he was one year old. His previous family didn't want him
anymore and they gave him to us for free. I wouldn't give Carl away for
a million dollars!!!
He's always been a great dog! He loves to think he's chasing squirrels
or rabbits. I can't forget to mention eating, that's at the top of the
list! Carl has always put up with it when we put costumes on him. The
first week of October this year we took him to a parade and dressed him
and Iris (our GSD) up as clowns. We even got Carl to jump through a hula
hoop on command, the perfect circus dogs!!! The crowd loved to watch
Carl jump through his hoop. They'd shout for him to jump again! The next
morning, after the parade, we found a picture of Carl, jumping through
the hoop, on the front page of the local newspaper! What a clown!!!
