Here
is my Miss Olyvia. She is a Great Dane and eighteen months old. We
live in Ontario, Canada. Miss Olyvia is very special. She is deaf and
partially blind yet she lives an extremely full life running and chasing
squirrels and birds just like any other dog. She is funny and spunky and
the best thing that ever happened to our family. Miss Olyvia is a
favorite at our local seniors centre, where she makes them laugh with
her antics. "Disabled" is not in her vocabulary... :)
Miss Olyvia has not passed her Therapy Dog title, we actually haven't
tried the test because we haven't needed to. Since she was a very small
pup, we have taken her to our seniors centre and we have just kept on
going... the seniors get very upset when she doesn't go to visit them at
least once a week. Missy Uh Oh just is herself... she ambles over to
people for a hug or a snuggle and then she goes through her repertoire
of tricks.. she does a high five, shakes a paw, crawls, and whispers
which actually sounds like a lamb bleating.. must be that "deaf" voice
of hers. Right now Miss Olyvia is learning to tell people how old she is
by barking... it is easy now because she is only 1, but in November she
will be 2! Recently there was a summer programme running for children at
the senior's centre so we visited there all summer too.
Missy Uh Oh has been through a lot in her short life but this has not
affected her lovable nature in any way... Miss Olyvia has touched many
lives and continues to do so.. since loving Miss Olyvia, my life will
never be the same...
