This
is Belle, second generation mongrel, twice removed. She was a gift
to my wife just after christmas. She was then six weeks old, huddling in
a crate at the Birmingham, AL humane society. Now, she's 65 pounds, and,
as you can see, all ears. She has that peculiar way of always having one
ear up and one down that cracks us up every time. Factor in that weird
tongue of hers, and you have what our vet calls "100%
golden-german-chow-retriever." She is all spunk and never ceases to
surprise us (or wear us out!) with her energy.
As to her disposition, she is especially affectionate. She's now ten
months old, and already learning a few tricks like sit, lay down, high
five, and the newest is shake right and shake left. Unfortunately, those
ears have never decided what to do, as one of them remains stoically at
half mast! Favorite toys are rope bones, and she is on her 6th, each one
bigger than the last. She sure is a handful, and always ready to play...
sometimes too much!
