About Us
Kacey, the Dog of the Day
Name: Kacey
Age: Ten and a half years old
Gender: Male Breed: Keeshond
Home: Swansboro, North Carolina, USA

Our ten and a half year old Keeshond named Kacey has got to be the most intelligent, loyal and loving dog there has ever been. We got him from the SPCA in Concord, NH when he was five years old. We were his third owners, not because he had any bad habits, rather because his previous owners felt guilty for not having enough time to spend with him. He was the pet of the week in the local Sunday paper, but he is the pet of the century for us! I knew as soon as I saw his picture that he was the one for us. I skipped one of my law school classes the next day just to be sure that we got him.

He was so well trained when we got him. Within a few days, I learned that he was trained to be on a verbal leash, and that if you told him to go to the woods, he would run into the edge of the woods to do his business. since then he has become more like one of our children than a pet. We are currently living with my elderly mother in Swansboro, NC and he is such a loyal and protective companion for her. It might have a little something to with the fact that she feeds him toast and biscuits every morning while she has coffee. Everyone who sees him says that he is the most beautiful well behaved dog they have ever seen. However, he does have one problem -- food--. He likes to use the "brown eye treatment' to hypnotize people into sharing their dinner with him or he likes to show off his tricks like "low five," "high five" or "the bone trade" for treats. His next favorite thing to eating is going for rides in the car. He sits up in the seat and rest one of his paws on the door's arm rest like a human and then watches the scenery go by. But one of the most precious things that he does is when he lies on the floor holding his bone in his two front paws and just stares at you with those big brown, loving eyes!
