We
actually got Gus to be a Christmas present for our nephew Cody. But
after spending a few hours with this shy little boy he stole my heart
and Cody got a Steeler jacket instead. Today, he is 138 lbs. of energy
and love. He loves his mommy, chew bones, cookies and walking the
trail to the park. He knows it's walk time as soon as I pick up my
tennis shoes. He heads to the front door and opens it for me. When he
gets to the park... why that's the best part. Then he gets to go off
his leash, go into the creek and run through the water. His best
friends are Julie the dog next door and Keke his kitty. Gus and I had
quite an adventure last month. I had come home from work and as usual
let him outside. I heard him running up and down the back porch steps
and thought he was playing with Julie. I heard him again and this time
he was crying. I opened our back door and he was sitting there covered
from the tip of his nose to the stump of his tail in bees... yellow
jackets. Somehow he must have found a nest in our yard. I opened the
door and he came running in the house looking for me to help him. Now
we had bees everywhere and I got stung! We ran through the house onto
the front porch out into the front yard and by then most of the bees
were off us both. We had to drive to the emergency vet and he had to
have shots and be on medication in case he had an allergic reaction.
The worse part was waiting at the vet's because there were puppies.
The puppies were worse then the bee stings cause my big brave Gus is
afraid of puppies!
