This
is Dixie, my six year old German shepherd. We got her when she was
six months old. She was from an abusive home, although the owner said he
thought he just "trained her too hard". She was afraid of
everything, she didn't know how to run or climb stairs, and she'd flinch
and go hide every time we'd go to pick something up, even if we were on
the opposite side of the room. It was really sad. It's taken along time
for her to come out of her shell, but who can blame her. She still gets
upset when we carry an umbrella when we walk her and it's raining, but
she's much better. She gained a lot of confidence when I took her to
obedience class. The socialization helped her a lot. She loves to
"play ball", although she'll only retrieve the ball for my
husband!!! I'll throw the ball but she'll just look at my husband and
wait for him to tell her to "go get it"! She loves to cuddle
and play with her brother, Zeus, our Siberian husky, and she watches
over Foxy, our fourteen year old Shepherd mix. They are quite a trio!!!
