This
is KC. KC is a Yorkshire Terrier/Maltese mix. We acquired KC
after a long search for either a Yorkie or a Maltese. My boyfriend
likes the Yorkie, but I wanted the Maltese. KC is perfect - she has the
coloring of the Yorkie, but the look (floppy ears) of the Maltese. She
is the sweetest little girl. She is very attentive and extremely
smart. She has been trained to do all the basics (sit, down, rollover,
dance), but also understands boundaries. She is on a leash when we go
for a walk, but when we are just out in front of the house or running
around at the park, she is fine without one. She never runs into the
street and doesn't try to run away for other animals. Once she sees a
patch of grass, watch out! The leash comes off and she will run around
like a maniac until she can't breath anymore. My boyfriend and I run
with her and throw the squeaker for her to fetch and return. She is
extremely loving. She will lick you until you can't take it anymore.
She loves to snuggle and play and has tons of energy. She likes to be
heard. As for strangers, she will bark at you until you pet her.
Everyone who sees her can't get enough of her. She is extremely
popular with the kids (she's just their size). She wants as much
attention as you can give her.
KC is a well traveled dog. She has experienced cross country trips via
air (although she didn't like the pressure changes much, we're
thankful for the patience of our fellow travelers). She didn't know
what to think about snow, but after a while she played and jumped
around. The snow was higher than she was, so it was important that we
dig out an area for her to go potty. She has also experienced 115
degree Phoenix weather, which takes a toll on her little body. But it
doesn't really matter to her where she goes, a trip is a trip and to
her, its the most exciting thing in her world. One of her favorite
trips was probably the Grand Canyon. She was able to hike the rim
trail with us and experience the depths that many people can't even
look at.
When we can't take her with us she goes to Camp. We have a friend that
owns five dogs and lives on a ranch with his other animals. She goes
there and plays with the other dogs and becomes just part of the pack.
By the time we return, KC is ready for a few days of sleep and
relaxation. And that is no exaggeration. When KC gets "pooped
out" she will sleep and lay around for days afterward. She just
expends all of her energy at once. KC is the most important living
thing in our lives. She is our child and our companion. We love her
and couldn't think of our lives without her. We wanted to share her
with you.
