What
makes Duchess (a.k.a. Duchy Dog) so special is the love and
happiness she brings to our home. I received Duchess as a Christmas
gift in 1989 from my new bride. She was eight weeks old and came with
a championship blood line history. Her obedience is uncanny as she
enjoys listening and making her parents so proud. In her younger days
she could catch a Frisbee like a pro. She loves playing outfield in a
family game of wiffle ball and occasionally will take a turn in goal
during one of our driveway street hockey games. She loves to watch the
Animal Plant channel, this allows her the opportunity to see how the
other folks are doing. She has made numerous family trips over the
years which include such adventures as hiking, picnics, swimming, and
boating. She has had her share of injuries, as any active dog would.
One injury that has slowed her a bit over the last couple of years is
a torn muscle in her hind leg which of course occurred playing Frisbee
with one of her favorite cousins up in Maine. Her best friend is our
cat Sterling. He was welcomed with open "paws" when he
arrived a year ago as a kitten. They have their fun wrestling each
other and just hanging out together. We could not be luckier than to
have such a wonderful dog as Duchess.
