When
our beloved kitty, Keno, passed away suddenly, we went to the
shelter where I volunteer to find another kitty. Instead we came home
with Fidel. Fidel is special because he has not taken Keno's place but
found his own place in our hearts and filled a tremendous void in our
home. After Keno passed away, I did not want to go home at night
because I missed him so terribly.
Fidel has made coming home a pleasure. His favorite toy is a stuffed
leopard that he has managed to chew off the tail, both arms, both
legs, the eyes and the nose. I have to keep sewing up the holes
because he pulls out the stuffing. He also likes to play with a
stuffed orange bone. If you are not paying attention to him, he will
gnaw on it incessantly to make it squeak so that you will play with
him. He likes when we throw it down the hallway so he can chase it.
Fidel has become a special member of our family. Every day I thank the
Arizona Animal Welfare League that rescued him from euthanasia so that
he could enrich our lives with love and laughter.
