This
is my Sheltie, Dallas. Dallas and I love taking walks in the
woods behind our house. He likes chasing the rabbits or barking at
them if they cross our path. Sometimes there are deer that will be
feeding on the grass. Dallas doesn't quite know what to think of them
yet. All that walking sure makes him tired though, so he finds a nice
shady spot to lie down.
Dallas has a great personality. He isn't skittish at all. He'll sniff
at your fingers and if you check out okay with him he'll lick them.
He'll then go and get his favorite toys, his rope and a stuffed lion.
When he's holding his lion he growls and tries to sound ferocious but
he's quite the little squirt. He is most affectionate but also is
independent for himself. One thing's for sure, wherever I am Dallas
is. Our favorite game to play when I get home from school is hide and
seek. I will tell Dallas to sit and stay in the living room while I go
hide. Dallas stays until he thinks I've had enough time to hide and
tries to sniff me out. He almost always finds me but there are the
occasional times where I'll hear my little baby wine to let me know
he's given up.
He has a few tricks that he can do (although sleeping is his best)
which include playing dead, pretending to be injured, and getting the
"worm". When we got Dallas his tail was as skinny and long
as a worm so we taught him to chase his tail by calling it the worm.
He plays dead until I tell him to get up. He'll lay really still on
his side and close his eyes. When he pretends to be injured he lays on
his side and will rub his paws against his nose and wine. This is his
most recent trick. When he was just a little puppy he slept on a doll
bed that I have and would lay his head on the little pillow. It was so
cute! Dallas lays at the door and whines when I've left for school,
and is right there wagging his tail and barking up a storm when I get
home. Dallas is truly "Girl's" best friend. What more could
I ask for?
