I
adopted Chloé almost three years ago. I was looking for an older dog
to share my life. I wanted a little mutt who would tolerate my cat,
Baxter. I replied to a "free to good home" ad, and before you know it,
Chloé arrived at my doorstep.
She's a perfect dog, but far from a mutt. She's a Portuguese Podengo -
rare in North America - and she's perfect. Chloe was rescued from a
junkyard and lived with a wonderful family for over five years, but a
death in the family forced her previous caretakers to seek out a new
home.
Chloé loves to lounge! When she's not snoozing by the fireplace or on
our sunny deck, I take Chloé for lots of walks. Being both a sight-
and scent-hound, she loves to track her "quarry." But she'd never hurt
a flea. She lets the cat boss her around. She's a lover. And look at
those eyes! No one can get mad at Chloé. Fortunately, there's little
to get mad about. One look into her eyes and she'll melt your heart.
I never thought a dog could change my life, but Chloé has. She's also
very pampered. She gets home cooked meals and when she's not feeling
well, I take her to doggy acupuncture! A far cry from the junkyard she
grew up in. I start and end every day with a lovely walk with Chloé.
