About Us
Tide, the Dog of the Day
Name: Tide
Age: Three years old
Gender: Male Breed: Australian Cattle Dog, Pharoah Hound Mix
Home: California, USA

We just love our Crimson Tide. We call him Tide for short and he turned three this 4th of July. Tim and I adopted him from a rescue place when he was eight weeks old and soon found that he is a wonderful dog that is so smart and loving. He is our baby and we just love him to pieces. He means so much to us! His favorite things are going to the beach, playing frisbee, being with his people, playing with other animals, hogging the bed, attacking the evil hairdryer, and looking adorable! The one thing he hates is laundry!!

Tide was diagnosed with Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) and it was really hard for us. The vet said that he had 4 - 6 months to live. He told us that Tide was probably born with kidneys that could not handle the job of filtering blood for his body. It was a terminal diagnosis. Then a miracle happened. We took Tide in for an ACTH test per our vet's instructions and amazingly Tide was diagnosed with Addison's Disease (AD)! Kidney failure is a common misdiagnosis for many AD dogs. This meant that Tide could live a full and boisterous life with the help of daily medication! We were ecstatic!!

Tide is now up to 38 pounds and still gaining towards his original 42. He is gaining back all his weight and at the same time is now full of his usual craziness and energy. My little fireball is back and as fun-loving as ever!! He even has a web site dedicated to his many adventures.
