Kia
was adopted in June 2001 by my boyfriend and I. We had gone to the
Humane Society on a whim, and went from cage to cage, looking for the
"perfect" pet. Kia took us totally by surprise. She seemed too shy but
those big blue eyes begged to be given a chance. We adopted her that
day.
During this time, I had been experiencing some abdominal pain and Kia
would act strange around me. She'd gently sniff and prod my side.
Curious, I told the doctor and he decided to schedule me for a
laproscopy. What the doctor found was many masses of scar tissue, with
some covering my appendix and nearly covering my ovaries. The scar
tissue and appendix were removed immediately and a biopsy revealed that
I had Endometriosis.
I have no doubts that Kia saved my life and that my chances to have
children has been greatly improved. She is a blessing I will never give
up. Kia loves to play and is always eager to make me smile. I gave her a
second chance and she repaid me back a hundred times over. Of course,
Kia showed us a new trick last weekend. She jumped a four-foot fence like
it was nothing! She was fine but it scared me!
