Hi
everyone! My mom recently came across this site called Pet of
the Day. She asked my permission to be put on the Dog of the Day
page. I knew it would make her happy so I said I would. You see I
love to make my mom and dad happy by doing stuff I know they want
me too. Usually they don't ask me to do anything too awful.
Mom takes me to dog shows where I have to be judged on what she
calls obedience. I have a wall at home where she puts all my
ribbons. I enjoy going just to be with the other dogs. We also go
to hunt tests so I can retrieve ducks. I really like this since I
get to run and swim and have lots of fun. What I really like
though is going hunting with Dad. When he gets his hunting gear
out, I just know it's going to be a great day!
Last May I had a litter of ten puppies. I had five boys and five girls.
All the babies went to really great homes (mom had them picked
out even before they were born) except for baby boy number eight. He
is still hanging around our house. Mom and Dad call him Dusty and
he loves to follow me around. I play with him constantly just to
try and wear him out. He has a hard time keeping up with me
sometimes but I am patient with him. After all he is my son :)
Even though I don't have mom and dad all to myself anymore, they
still have lots of time for me. They still greet me, feed me, and
give me treats first. I don't have the heart to tell Dusty that I
think they love me more. We play frisbee every day, visit other
dogs at the playground ( I think mom calls them classes) and my
favorite, swimming! I just love water and can't seem to get
enough of it. I hope you enjoy my picture and my story. Even if
you don't, say you do (just to make my mom really happy).
From Dixie's mom: Dixie is the special dog in my life. I have had
other dogs but she is extraordinary. We have bonded together in
the most perfect relationship I think a human can have with a
dog. She brings such joy into our entire families life. My life
has definitely been blessed by having her in it. To me she is Dog
of the Day every day of the year!!! Oh yeah, by the way.... We love
Dusty just as much as Dixie but we don't have the heart to tell
him that his mommy insists she is number 1 for greetings,
feedings, and treats. She calls it something like Alpha dog?
