Hello,
my name is Sasha and I am a Shiba Inu. My family Mike and
Maria were lucky enough to adopt me from the Harrisburg Human
Society in July of 2001. The day they came and saw me, they went
home to do some research on me and they spoke with breeders. They
told them that Shiba Inu's are cat-like, stubborn, smart and
independent. After researching some more on the website, they
adopted me the very next day. As soon as I walked into my new
place a cute second floor Condo in a complex, my attitude was
"Everything was mine!" After a few weeks, Mike and Maria claimed
that I was disobedient, so Maria spoke to a dog trainer named
Toni, about me, boy was Maria excited when she came home after
meeting with Toni, she brought home a crate (which at first I
despised), new toys (Kongs) and news that she enrolled me in
Obedience Class. At first, I did not care for the classes, since
I know everything, but as soon as I got to know my classmates and
Toni, I was enjoying it. I look forward going every week.
In the middle of August, my family received a letter from the
Condo Association, saying that no dogs were allowed in the
complex. After a couple of weeks of trying to see if they could
make an exception by allowing me to stay until my family could
find us a new place, the Condo Association said no. Therefore,
my family had to find a kennel to take me to that they were
comfortable with. Toni my trainer offered to take me in until
Mike and Maria found a new home. My family accepted Toni's offer
because they know that I love Toni almost as much as I love them,
plus, Toni has Akitas for me to play with. During my stay with
Toni, I missed my family and I know they missed me too, because
they came to see me every week at Toni's place. After five weeks
living with Toni, Mike and Maria took me to my new home in
Hershey, Pennsylvania, which had stairs for me to run up and down
on and a large yard for me to run and play in and to dig holes.
Mike dislikes my hole digging, but in my mind, I'm compromising
because, if Maria continues to make me wear coats, scarves, and
silly looking hats in public, then I can dig as many holes as I
want. Mike and I are still in negotiations.
My family just recently adopted a eleven-week-old brother (pet) for
me, his name is Mishka (he is a boxer), at first I wasn't happy
that they brought him home, but after a couple hours of getting
to know him, we started to play and have fun together. Sometimes
Mishka and I have to stop playing to spend time with Mike and
Maria, just to let them know that we love them.
