Murphy
is special because he loves all people. He greets everyone
with a happy, kissy, turn-himself-inside-out welcome. If he's
really inspired in his greeting, he'll work up to a big howl.
Strange as it may sound, he also loves trips to the vet & groomer
so he can greet everyone there too. He likes to play with kids,
especially hide-and-go-seek, tag (preferring that you chase HIM),
and dress up. He always wipes his beard against the couch after
eating, making his beard stick out in every direction -- that's
how he got the nickname "weird beard". Other nicknames are "barky
brain" and "clicky toes." We now know where cartoonists got the
idea for characters 'spinning their wheels' before they take off
-- Murphy runs in place like that on the kitchen floor until he
gets traction whenever he hears a car horn! As you might imagine,
he's not all sweetness as he takes his jobs very seriously.
Besides defending the family from car horns, he puts on a
clamorous show to ward off trucks, buses, and vacuum cleaners.
For other dogs, he will put on his fiercest show, the dreaded
'bark spin' - we can't help but laugh (to ourselves of course
lest we hurt his feelings) as it looks so ridiculous!
