I
saw Scooter's puppy photos on a website when in search for my
first Yorkie puppy. He was the pup for me and I knew it by his
photo. I drove six hours to get him and In the photo he was three
months old and he looked just like a little lion. His name at the
time was Lionus. When I got him home I named him "Scooter" but
kept Lionus in his full name (Deluxe Lionus Scooter) just because
he still looks like a lion from time to time.
Scooter is special because he became very sick the day after
I brought him home. It was a freak thing, and it could have
happened to anybody, but he caught a very nasty case of kennel
cough and at 2 1/2 pounds it was very rough. Normally kennel
cough only lasts a week to three weeks, and four weeks at the absolute
worst case. Scooter was very sick for over two months. It
was a rough time and he went through a lot of treatments but he
finally got through it. Now he acts like the little adorable
happy Yorkie he is supposed to be.
We took him grocery shopping today. He absolutely loves to
ride in his little puppy pouch on his mommy's belly. (he goes
nuts and stamps his feet when I don't put it on and put him in it
fast enough)! He weighs 2 pounds 14 ounces now and is fully
grown. (He may gain a few more ounces over the next year but this
is pretty much as big as he'll get). Scooter is special because
he is a Yorkie, and most Yorkies are labeled "yapper dogs,"
famous for their consistent yapping bark. But Scooter has been
with us for 2 1/2 months and he never ever barks. He only makes
baby cooing noises when he is happily chewing on his toys, or
when he pounces on us first thing in the morning.
Right now his adult teeth are growing. He has just learned to sit
this week! Scooter sleeps all day long like a baby. You could set
your watch to him. He gets up with us at 6:30 am and goes back to
sleep at 11am and sleeps till 5pm sharp. Every single day, and
then gets up and goes back to sleep with us around 10pm. I
can't imagine life without him now. And that is the story of my
little Scooter.
