I
have been truly blessed to have Hadley Sue come into my life. She is a
little timid considering she is a Jack Russell Terrier (JRT), but
believe me, she has plenty of Jack Russell Terror, er, I mean
Terrier <grin> in her! We are perfect companions to each other, she lets
me sleep late on the weekends, and I let her walk me for an hour or two
every evening!
She has this wonderful sense of intellect and self preservation that is
most uncharacteristic of a JRT. When she sees a bigger dog, or hears a
big bark, she freezes, and/or backs away. Most JRT's always want to
"play with the big boys!" Now don't think that she can't hold
her own, she made fast friends with Belle, a 50-pound Dalmatian that
lives next door to her. They would play for hours, playing hide and seek
in the neighborhood, Hadley chasing Belle around, then Belle chasing
Hadley around, then Hadley running into small shrubs for cover, where
Belle could not follow. It was lots of fun to watch. You can't tell by
the picture how much energy she has in her.
She is a very interesting puppy, and I am happy to have her in my life.
Her name is even interesting! She was born in Hadley, Massachusetts,
hence the name Hadley (I wanted to make sure that she kept some
"Traditional New England Charm" in her), but she was going to
be a Southern Gal, and, as everyone knows, every "proper"
southern gal has to have a middle name, hence the name Sue. I
love Hadley because she is Hadley, but as you can see, she is also very
cute and can catch people's eye. She is starting to learn how to
"milk" passing onlookers, giving them the "cute wagging
tale, pet me I am a cute puppy" routine, and believe me, it works!
Wouldn't you stop to pet her?
