About Us
Maisy, the Dog of the Day
Name: Maisy
Age: Four months old
Gender: Female Breed: Pembroke Welsh Corgi
Home: Massachusetts, USA

Maisy (AKA: Flying Pig) came into our lives on May 31, 2002. We drove an hour to pick her up through a raging severe thunderstorm. At the airport (She flew to us from South Dakota) we expected an intimidated little puppy huddling at the back of her crate. But no! Bursting out came Maisy, her whole body wiggling with excitement. Maisy spends her puppy days following me around the house, and one of her favorite things to do is to chew on her best bud, Molly. Molly is our big eleven year old black lab, who weighs about ten times more than Maisy! Maisy loves to chew on Molly's floppy ear, and her favorite maneuver is to get a running start at one side of the room, run as fast as she can to Molly and leap on her. This little stunt we know as the "pig leap of doom".

Why do we call her the "Flying Pig"? Well, it has to do with the way this pup lies. When napping on her pink fleece blanket, she stretches her front legs out as far as she can in front of her, and her back legs (fondly known as drumsticks) straight out behind her. We think she resembles a flying pig when she does this so we call her "the flying pig" or just "pig". Another one of her favorite pastimes is to play soccer. Maisy and I run around the back yard, while I kick a ball, she chases it then I try to steal it back. the other thing the Pig loves doing is going for walks down to the swamp in the woods. She loves to wade in the murky water to chase the frogs, and get extremely muddy. She sure does hate water, though. Especially baths she has after she goes exploring in the swamp. She's known as "The Little Sinker" because those petite legs of hers just can't hold her up very well in water. This pooch is well loved, and very special to us. The best part of our day is to let her out of her crate in the morning (she is being crate trained) and be greeted by her wiggling body, and be covered in kisses. Here comes Maisy now, just waking up from her afternoon nap.
