Atlas,
whose full name is UKC GSD/IABCA Nat'l Jungsten Ch. Eclipse's
Strength of Atlas, is a special dog because he is a purebred German
Shepherd Dog but he is all white. He is not an albino (his lips, around
his eyes and paw pads are black. They would be pink if he was albino)
but is simply a white dog. White German Shepherds are fairly common, but
because black and tan German Shepherds are so much more common, many
people have never seen a dog like Atlas. In addition to being white,
Atlas has a long coat, also not common in German Shepherds.
Atlas has lived with us, his owners, since he was seven weeks old. He is
very spoiled. He is a show dog and won two championships by the time he
was eleven months old. He is training in obedience and hopes to compete in
obedience some day. He loves to go to shows and see all the sights and
sounds.
Atlas loves to hang out with his people. He is our special buddy. He
loves to go for car rides and he loves to go to pet stores that allow
animals inside. He also loves to play with other dogs. Atlas has a
special gift for playing with small dogs. He has met several small dogs
that are afraid of big dogs, but after a few minutes with Atlas, they
love him! He is really good at sensing when another dog is scared. He
lays down so he is not as big and lets them smell him.
Atlas is the light of our lives. He has such a wonderful personality and
we are so lucky to have him.
