About Us
Harley, the Dog of the Day
Name: Harley
Age: Two years old
Gender: Female Breed: Shiba Inu
Home: Minnesota, USA

On Dec. 1, 2001 I was rescued along with my three puppies from a puppy mill in Nebraska. Many people came together in order to help me, my children and thirteen other Shiba Inus. My children and I were taken in by two wonderful people and there I stayed until March 2002 when I was adopted to a wonderful forever home. I now have the life I deserve and am not a prisoner in a puppy mill. Free to run and play and be loved as I should. Until I was rescued I had never been help, hugged or taken care of now I have all of that!

Harley is presently living in her adoptive home in Minnesota with her new momma and sister. Before we rescued Harley she had never felt the kindness of a human hand or known the loving words we as pet people lavish onto our pets. When she came to us she had a litter of three pups who we also fostered (Cheech, Lucy and Chong). While she had never known kindness herself she was a wonderful momma and took exceptional care of her pups. Harley is approximately two years of age. Shiba Inus are a very natural breed and alas are not so big on doing tricks. However I think her biggest accomplishment is that she now meets her new owner at the door wagging her tail. While the process of rehabbing any puppy mill dog can be long and difficult at time the rewards bar a great. To see a scared introverted dog become the bright glowing beacon of hope is such a wonderful thing. Toys, shelter, bedding and love are all new things to Harley. Never before had she played, been given ear rubbins or been sheltered from the elements. She's come a long way!
