We
got Lucy at about one year from the
Animal Rescue League. We were told that her previous owners found her
too energetic. We find that easy to understand! We live by the beach on
the Cape and Lucy spends a good part of her energy chasing the ball,
swimming and digging on the beach. The last activity is her only fault,
since, with tremendous enthusiasm she excavates large holes in the sand
which we then feel duty bound to fill before someone falls into them. We
are slightly concerned that some old person will disappear in one of
them. So far so good, but we persist in our efforts to divert Lucy from
this useless but evidently fulfilling activity.
She is a most happy, smiling, friendly, obedient, and playful companion.
She is obedient, good-natured and loved by us very much. She gets three
walks per day. The last walk is more ball-practice than walk. She loves
to chase and catch the ball, and she is very good at it. She likes to
meet people and other dogs but she is most interested in our family and
in ball play. I wish that all dogs were as well-treated and happy as she.
