This
is our beautiful pal Thor. He is two months old and already at 42
pounds. When our beloved Doberman died two years ago, we wanted another
companion. Not to replace him, but to fill that void that pets fulfill
in our lives. After doing some research, we decided to purchase a
Great Dane. We tried the rescue groups, but there where none
available. We then decided to go with a reputable breeder and waited a
year and a half for a puppy on a waiting list. He was well worth the
wait.
He is pretty smart for a young puppy. He knows all basic
commands like sit, down, come and stay. Thor enjoys coming to work
with us or staying home alone for some quiet time. When we are at home
he is always aware of what is going on around him. He likes to follow
us around and watch everything we do. No matter where he lays, he
always has some part of himself touching us. He loves human contact.
He has a bad habit of leaning on us and this could pose a problem when
he is full grown and weighing near 160 pounds!
When Thor arrived home, his two housemates (cats) were not pleased. They
quickly put Thor in his place and let him know who was boss around here.
The cats will even push him out of the way to see what he has in his
bowl. We bought Thor a toy that looks like a cat and whenever one of the
cats gives him a swat, he finds his stuffed cat and takes his
frustration out on that. He is a wonderful puppy and I am confident that
he will grow into an excellent dog.
