Maggie Mae, the Dog of the Day
Name: Maggie Mae
Age: Six years old
Gender: Female Breed: Rottweiler
Home: Methuen, Massachusetts, USA

My name is Maggie Mae (given name: Racing Princess Maggie Mae). I have lived with my Mom since I was four months old. My given name stems from going camping at NHIS for the Nascar weekend racing the first night I came home! Mom wanted to call me Princess, yet they settled on Maggie Mae (and no it has no connection to the Rod Stewart song!). Mom has done Agility with me and we have such a blast. This past January, I injured myself in the snow, so I don't think Mom is going to allow me to do Agility any longer - that is such a bummer for I do love it so - just say the word and I freak out and can't get into the truck fast enough to go!

I absolutely adore people, Mom and Dad will have a bunch of people over and I am in doggie heaven all day! At first when people come and don't know me they are so scared of me, can't figure out why though. Must be my paint job is what I hear! I am always the first one to the door to greet everyone. I am so excited when greeting everyone, so not to jump on people I will run for a toy and start swinging it around! After I have calmed down, all I want is to be petted and if they stop, I won't let them for I will head butt their arm or hand until they start petting me again!! If I were allowed, I'd be on everyone's lap too. I will say that by the time the newcomers leave, they are telling Mom and Dad that I am a wonderful, fun loving and that their entire attitude towards a Rotti is changed! After getting to know me better they just can't imagine a Rotti being mean, for all I do is give that soft puppy dog loving eye look and I get everyone to melt! Mom and Dad will invite friends who have other doggies too. I so love it when they bring a friend for me to play with. Even better when they get to stay for doggie stay overs for a few days!

My favorite game in the yard is with Dad playing soccer! Yes I actually play soccer, I am the goalie! Dad will get ready to kick the ball, where I am already sprinting down the other end of the yard awaiting for the ball. When I see the ball coming I run towards it and block it with my body! Then Dad has a devil of a time getting the ball from me! I will stand with either one or both paws on the ball and Dad will try to kick it out from under my paws! Dad bought me a special soccer ball that has two ropes on the end, so I am able to pick up the ball and run with it too. I love to swing the ball from the rope and bounce it off the sides of my face too! That is really fun. My all time favorite is the flashlight! Yes I will chase the flashlight until I die!

The only thing that I ask of people is to please don't judge anyone by his or her paint job, get to know them and who they truly are by looking at their personality first before making a judgement.
