In
his younger years, Cubby was an excellent cattle dog and helped out
on the family farm. He helped move the cattle and keep them in line as
needed. He was the best companion I had as a young child and was one of
my best friends. Cubby loved to instigate the Belgian horses we had on
the farm and once learned a lesson when he got kicked in the head by one
of their large hooves. He had a lump to show for it afterwards and it
stuck by him through the years. He was a natural-born herding dog, it
didn't matter how big the animals he was herding were to him. I lost
Cubby last summer, he was eighteen. He is sadly missed and will always remain
in our hearts and memories.
