Shina, the Dog of the Day
Name: Shina
Age: Deceased, Seventeen years old
Gender: Female Breed: Pitbull, Lab mix
Home: Phoenix, Arizona, USA

This picture of Shina (Shee-na) was taken when she was about seven. I had this gal for literally half my life... and she means everything to me. I got Shina when I was fifteen, and she was just six weeks old! I am 32 now, and she was seventeen, we quite literally grew up together. She is like a child to me, the one I could never (and never will be able to) have. I couldn't have asked for a smarter, more loving companion through all these years... she is the absolute LoVe and LiGhT of my life. I wanted to honor Shina by letting everyone see what a beautiful, loving girl she is. I will love you always Shina... you will always live in my heart, mind and soul. I will keep you, always... until it is too, my time - and then we will again be together!

Shina's song... sung to the tune of You are my sunshine

      You are my Shin-Shin
      My only Shin-Shin
You make me happy when skies are gray...
      You'll never know, dog,
      How much I love you
Please don't take my Shin Shin away.

She always wagged her tail and licked when I sang that to her, although not so much the kissy thing anymore, she still gave the occasional wag of the old tail. I've sung that to her since she was just a baby, amongst other things. She grew up a spoiled, loved, playful dog! She lived a full and adventurous life... any dog should be so lucky. She loved her squeaky toys (especially squeaky chicken leg..and squeaky pencil!) She also loved to be covered with blankets even since she was a baby. She loved to run and play ball and chase wild rabbits, swim, bark, run and jump, all of the typical young doggie things. In her old age she mainly liked to nap, either in or out of the sun, although she had always been a sun-loving pup, and still liked her dog treats. I could never fit on here everything that made Shina so wonderful... I just wanted to share a bit of why she was, and always will be my Shina.
