About Us
Nutmeg, the Dog of the Day
Name: Nutmeg
Age: Six years old
Gender: Female Breed: Yorkshire Terrier
Home: Guntersville, Alabama, USA

This is our Miss Meg. Her registration name is Glori's Little Love Spice and her household name is Nutmeg. She is a grits - a Girl Raised in the South! She is a Yorkshire Terrier (terror), who has no idea that she is small in stature! She weighed only 5 ounces when we got her and now she weighs a whopping 3 pounds 9 ounces. When she was five months old, she chased a deer up the side of the mountain into the woods behind our house! I chased after her and was afraid I was going to lose her but she turned around and ran home. When I finally made it back, out of breath, she was standing by the door looking at me as if to say, "Where have you been?" She has been known to chase a German Shepherd out of our yard to let it know that she is protecting her property!

Nutmeg is the most independent dog we have ever known. She knows the obedience commands but she must do things on her own terms. So, if we tell her to come, she will amble around, sniffing this and that, and then come when she determines she is ready, all the time aware that we are disapproving. One of her favorite games is to put her ball under the end tables in the living room and then bark at it until one of us fetches it for her! She tosses her stuffed Hedgie down the stairs so we can toss it back up to her. Most dogs fetch the things their masters throw, but not Meg! She throws, we fetch. This picture shows her on the hollow stump where a chipmunk hides to escape her wrath! A Yorkie is indeed a wonderful little character and we can't imagine life without one. And our Meg is the most delightful little friend we have ever had! Once you have a Yorkie, you'll always want to have one!
