About Us
Shira and Bouncy , the Dog of the Day
Name: Shira, Bouncy
Age: One, Two years old
Gender: Female Breed: Belgian Malinois
Home: Spijkenisse, Netherlands

Here are my two dogs, they are both Belgian Malinois (the Dutch breed name is mechelse herder). On the right is Bouncy, who is two years old. I have had Bouncy since she was eight weeks old, I got her from a breeder. She is a pro with catching a frisbee, and can swim like a fish.

At the left is Shira, who is one year old. I got Shira when she was eleven weeks old and adopted her after someone had abandoned her and her brother. Her brother did not survive a car accident.

Shira and Bouncy have a lot of fun playing with other dogs in the park. Shira is crazy about Rottweilers and Bouncy goes nuts for Canadian shepherds. Only Bouncy is protective about Shira like an mother or a big sister - if another dog attacks Shira then Bouncy comes between them to chase the other dog away.

The Dutch police use the Belgian Malinois as police dogs, and there are a few policemen who wanted to buy Bouncy because they have seen that Bouncy is well trained by me, but I have trained her to be a house dog, not as a police dog. And they are not for sale - not for all the gold in the world.

They both love to play with little kids and if the children want to throw the Frisbee, then they can play for hours. Normally people are a little bit afraid of shepherds or big dogs, but when they have seen Shira and Bouncy playing, then even those people want to throw the Frisbee for them also. They are the best friends humans can think of. I do not know what I would do without them, I think I would get bored quick, because they keeps me busy and I keep them busy.
