I'd
like to introduce my puppy, Buffy! Beautiful Buffy is Labradoodle (a
Labrador/Poodle cross). She was born twelve months ago in the Gippsland
region of southern Australia, and took her first plane flight to join
our family in April of last year.
Labradoodles were originally bred to provide guide dogs for visually
impaired people who had allergies to some other breeds. They combine the
low-shedding characteristics of the poodle with the fine nature of the
Labrador. Many Labradoodles are also now trained as Pet Therapy dogs for
those in hospital or nursing homes, and others in the community who have
limited mobility.
Buffy is still in the very early days of her training, but is already
making regular visits to housebound senior citizens. She adores people,
and loves to go out and about making new friends. She seems to spread
happiness wherever she goes, and it's very hard to resist her smiling face!
Buffy's hobbies include swimming at the dog beach, landscaping (plant
removal and earthmoving are her specialties!) and soft-toy
deconstruction. In her spare time, she enjoys playing chasings and
wrestling her canine companions at the puppy park, particularly her best
friends Bella (a Staffie) and Annie (another Labradoodle).
Buffy lives with Greg and Melinda in Sydney Australia, who don't know
what they'd do without their Buffy-Boo!
