This
is Molly the Collie. She is what I would call, a miracle. There was
an ad in the paper for a female, collie pup almost four months old. My
family and I were always interested in getting a collie, so we went down
to look at her. When we first saw Molly she was in the back of the house
in a wire kennel looking out to us. Her mother and father were around
her. We first approached the parents and they were extremely friendly,
but when we got to Molly, she ran and hide in the corner, curled up in a
ball. It took some coaxing but she came up to us. It was obvious she had
never seen a caring hand by the way she would flinch when we tried to
pet her. But there was that look in her eye saying, "Please, dont leave
me here". So, we took her in.
Molly now is a happy member of the family. She still is timid, but is
learning to get along with new people well. She loves playing and
mothering Daisy, a golden retriever. She has helped me overcome
struggles I have had in my life. Molly may not fit the "breed standard"
or be "show quality" but I couldn't have asked for a better dog. She
basically went from "rags to riches" as most people like to say. It was
fate that made us look at that ad in the paper and fate that brought her
to us. She is my best friend. :)
She is the first Collie and dog I have raised, but certainly won't be
the last! Like most Collies, she needs lots of grooming in order to keep
her coat in top condition. Molly came to us at five months old from a
breeder in Little Rock, and has been a joy ever since!
What people first notice about Molly is her ears. (other then the famous
"Lassie" dog) As you can see from her pictures, one ear is tipped down
as the other is straight up. It just makes her more unique! She's smart
too! She knows many tricks such as sit, stay, come, heel, down, "gimme
kisses", jump, "Want a treat?", speak, and much more. Molly loves
playing with her sister Daisy, who is a Golden Retriever. She loves
visiting her friends at the dog park, but most of all, playing frisbee!
She is an independent dog, but doesn't mind snuggling up on the couch
every now and than. Molly has been a blessing for myself and my family,
and I hope to enjoy many more years with her!
