Lars
is an incredibly sweet and goofy guy. He's quite large for a
Samoyed and has a huge, fluffy coat in the winter. He's just a giant
puff ball. He looks like White Fang, Dog of the North, but he's just a
big teddy bear. The strange thing about Lars is that he's such a scaredy
cat. I tell him that most people would be afraid of him, because he
looks like a white wolf. But when people he doesn't know come over, he
runs and hides behind the couch!
With us, though, he's just a cuddle bug. He loves belly rubs, rawhide,
fruit (especially bananas!), and all his squeaky toys. He also loves our
two cats and always tries to get them to play with him, but they just
stare at him as if to say "We're cats--we don't do that!"
Lars loves to run and wrestle with his doggy friends at the park, but at
home he's a big old couch potato. The very special thing about Lars is
that he's very talkative, and will "Aroo, aroo" when he wants a belly
rub or to play, and will emit a sort of growly howl when he wants the
cats to play. He's still a big puppy and we're hoping he will soon
outgrow his unfortunate habit of eating our furniture and tiptoeing into
the kids' rooms on "steal and destroy" missions. But despite this one
bad habit, he brings so much love and joy into our lives. When our
previous dog died, my daughter said that our house was too quiet and sad
without a dog. Lars brings lots of love, fun, and silliness into our
home. We love him to pieces!!
