Dexter
is a great pet! He is always happy and playful, and greets his
Mom and Dad cheerfully when they get home from work each day. Whenever
we are stressed out, he brings one of his toys over to us in an effort
to cheer us up. He is the cuddliest animal I've ever encountered and
always has a kiss for everyone he meets. He loves kids and all other
dogs and plays very well with them. Even our niece, Katey, who is two and
dislikes most dogs, is always looking for "Decta"!
As for Dexter's personality, he is very outgoing. He has at least five of our
closest neighbors asking to take him home with them. He's very personable,
and usually returns from the park with at least two or three new friends
(both canine and human). His favorite playmate, his "Grandpaws" (my father)
is always asking to puppy-sit, even if we are not going anywhere! Also he's a
prankster. When we take him hiking and he is off his leash, he hides behind
trees and them jumps out at us as we pass him on the trail. And at the
beach, he likes to hide behind rocks and boulders and then sneak out and
surprise us (we generally know where he is, but he doesn't know that). At
home, his favorite game is hide and seek, where either we try to find him or
he tries to find us (he usually has a little more luck with hiding!). He
also likes "make the bed" where he hides under the blankets when we make the
bed and then jumps out (as seen in his picture!). His favorite toy is his
"rally monkey" which his "Grandmaws" bought him during the World Series so
he could cheer along. He generally took it out before the 7th inning,
though! His favorite tv show is "K-9 to 5" on Animal Planet. He loved the
episode with the beagles, because he has two beagle "cousins.".
