Ginger, the Dog of the Day
Name: Ginger
Age: Four years old
Gender: Female Breed: Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, Border Collie
Home: Montreal, Quebec, Canada

This is Ginger. We got her at the SPCA when she was six months old. We think she is a mix between Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever and border collie. She is shaved in this picture. I knew she was my kind of dog the moment I saw her. She is very energetic and loves people. We would let her walk off the leash except for the fact that she will go up to anyone who smiles at her. She gets spooked by big black dogs but not by small ones.

When Ginger was about one, she got out of the door while we were on the porch and ran down the sidewalk. We ran after her, but she dashed out between two parked cars! The next thing we heard was a screeching of brakes and then a loud yelp. Our whole street helped us get her to the vet. Now all she has left are two scars on her front legs and some times, just sometimes she limps after running all day.

Another thing that is special about her is that she can almost communicate with you. She seems to understand what you say and some people can understand her ear and tail positions or the shine in her eyes. I love my dog and wouldn't trade her for anything in the whole universe.
