About Us
Sierra, the Dog of the Day
Name: Sierra
Age: Seven years old
Gender: Male Breed: Jindo
Home: Oxnard, California, USA

Sierra is a purebred Jindo - a breed from the island of Jindo off the coast of Korea. I rescued from going to the pound when he was six months old because his previous owner lost her house. Sierra is more my child than a pet as I am so very lucky to have him to love and to be loved by.

1,500 years ago the Asian mariners took Asiatic wolves to the island of Jindo and they became the Jindo breed, they also took some to Australia and those became the Dingos. The imperial court of Japan declared the Jindo breed their 53rd natural monument. They say the Jindo has the strength of a wolf and the agility of a cat and I agree.

Sierra wears his sun glasses and bandana everywhere we go. He always draws a crowd of both kids and adults many wanting to take his picture, Sierra happily poses for them as he is a bit of a ham and loves the attention. He was on the TV news for the local Santa Barbara stations following and because of the 9-11 tragedy. He also was just asked to be in a music video which he gladly did, again loving all the attention.
