Our
dog's name is Harley. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia, where all of
Midtown knows her by name! What makes her special? Just look at her! She
has an amazing spirit! Living in the city is perfect for Harley, since
her breed is not athletic. We take her on short walks to Starbucks and
local eateries, and the neighborhood adores her! Living in Georgia, many
people call her "UGA" after the University of Georgia mascot. Also, many
people assume she is a male since bulldogs appear masculine. We bought
her a pink sweater with yellow flowers to tame the misconception!
Being only four months old, Harley makes us constantly laugh as she
develops her personality. As we quickly found out, she loves the
bathtub. When she hears the water turn on, she runs in and attempts to
jump in the tub. However, because of her stubby legs, she needs help
from her Mommy and Daddy! When in the tub, she loves to dunk her head in
and out of the water, like she is bobbing for apples! Harley also loves
to sit in our laps when we watch television. However, because she is
still teething, we trained her to bring us a toy so she can have
something to chew.
Recently, I was sitting in my recliner when she ran over without a
toy. After motioning for her to retrieve a ball, she ran in the other
room and returned ... with my husband's giant tennis shoe hanging out of
her mouth! Apparently she could not find an appropriate toy, so instead
my ten-pound puppy carried the first thing she could find. Although this
was not an item we allowed her to chew, it was too adorable to not let
her in my lap! Harley is the love of our lives! She is an absolute
treasure and we look forward to many years of laughter and love with our
"Harley Beans."
