Jake,
who was bred in the Catskill Mountains of New York, spent the
first 2.5 years of his life in Manhattan and was a true City dog. He
knew all of the shop keepers and neighborhood vendors, was completely
unfazed by roaring city buses, sirens, horns, and profanities, and
walked the streets with his owners with complete confidence and hubris.
We have relocated to Miami Beach, FL where Jake now gets to run up and
down the beach, and go for long swims in the ocean surf (usually chasing
a tennis ball). He comes home absolutely exhausted and happy, waits
patiently while we hose off the sand and sea water, gets towel-dried,
and then usually settles down for a nap. Occasionally when we are not
paying attention, he'll quietly sneak up to our bed and crash there.
The picture was taken after one of those times. He's a great dog.
