I
adopted Echo from a shelter when he was three, and I've been crazy
about him ever since. He's very cuddly and loves to be held and petted.
His companion is my other dog Ginger, a chow mix. He adores her and
tries to protect her from other dogs at the dog park, even though she is
three times larger than he is. He's a great dog and a lot of fun to
have around.
Echo is a very affectionate dog. He likes to cuddle with me on the
couch in the evening and sleep against my legs at night. His best trick
is getting me to scratch his back. He's so good at it that I scratch
his back automatically and don't realize I'm doing it until five minutes
later.
I really don't think he knows that he's a small dog. When we go to the
dog park, we stay on the big dog side, and he runs right up to dogs of
any size. Most of my friends have big dogs, so he's used to hanging out
with them. He absolutely hates it when my dog Ginger plays with other
dogs. According to his rules, she can play only with him. So, if she
tries to play with another dog, he either jumps up and bites the fur
around her neck or tries to make the other dog play with him by being
irresistibly fun.
Echo loves all people and especially kids. When we're out walking, he
seems surprised if people don't stop to pet him. He's scared of cats,
especially the ones he lives with, whom he makes every effort to walk
around. But when we're out walking, he pretends that he's tough and
wants to chase them.
