I
got Heidi from the Humane Society eight years ago when she was three. She just
sat there and wagged her tail. The other dogs were barking and having
small fits, but not Heidi. She had been severely abused and they warned
me that she may be mean but we bonded immediately and she became my best
friend.
We live in New Smyrna Beach, Florida which is on the east (Atlantic
Ocean) coast. There's a boardwalk between the ocean and river and when
we get done with our walk, Heidi loves to wade in the water. She doesn't
actually swim, she just likes to stand there or walk around a little.
One time a manatee came up and scared her to death. So much for the
predictions of her being "mean!" She is my best friend.
