This
is my pup, Maysie. She is eight weeks in this photo, but she turned one
year old on December 10th. We live in the Pacific Northwest, and we picked
her up at an airport in Canada. I will always remember the first time I
saw her. I was pacing at the very small airport, awaiting her arrival.
It seemed like the airplane would never arrive, and then it did. As I
watched them unload the baggage from the airplane, I was anxiously
awaiting her departure. My husband laughed at me, as I had tears in my
eyes as the airport employee ran her carrier into the terminal. It was
snowing and cold, so I was happy to see him hustle her inside. I asked
the airport personnel if we could quickly obtain her, and they said the
"customs paperwork" may take up to twenty minutes.
You see, I had only ever seen photos of her, so this was a big event.
The airport personnel saw that I was anxious and teary, so they agreed
to let me hold her, while they finished the paperwork. I was elated, and
cried as I held her and snuggled her little face. Maysie was as happy as
she could be ~ a few shivers, but licked my face continually. We
finished the paperwork, and off we went, back to the states. As we
crossed the border, I made sure I had all the paperwork necessary to get
her back into Washington state. It was so funny because the border guard
asked to see her, but not her paperwork??? Next thing I knew, she took
her into the building to show the other border employees! They were all
talking and passing her around, and then gave her back to me. My guess
is they are all dog lovers, and Maysie simply brightened their day as
she does ours every single day.
We just love her. She is a joy in our world.
