Name: Nova

Gender: Female Breed: Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever
Home: Boden, Norrbotten, Sweden

Nova is so charming, and the way she can use her eyelashes ;) My little star is special just because she is a star. When I was younger, all our deceased dogs went up to heaven and each came to possess one of the brightest stars at the black sky. I missed them a lot, but to overcome the loss of the best friends I had in life, I found my comfort in watching the stars late at nights. I felt them looking down at me as well as I could see their wonderful beings reflected in the light.

Now I have turned eighteen, and the last dog I had became a star two years ago. To come to terms with the loss, and also to come to term with the loneliness that follows from having dogs around for my entire life, to be all by myself, I have bought a little puppy to give so much love. She will not replace any of my former sweethearts, but indeed she is special. She is my first own dog, and I can tell she has already got so much of my own stubborn personality, but still she is my greatest love in the world. She is my world.

What makes her special is the name that I gave her, the name I saw in her from the first day she arrived to our home.

I thought Nova would be short for "Supernova" which in its definition has a deep meaning for me.

Formal definition: The explosion of a massive star, resulting in a sharp increase in brightness followed by a gradual fading. At peak light output, supernova explosions can outshine a galaxy. Astronomers estimate that a supernova explosion takes place about once a century in a galaxy like our Milky Way.

It was really once in century that I found my love, I think no other pup would have suited me better. And, most important, it was a sharp increase in brightness, which outshined a galaxy. So there she is, among my friends in dog heaven, but the difference is that she is a shining star alive, brighter than anything else.

Later, who knows, she might even turn into be a CasaNova;)
