Pepper, the Dog of the Day
Name: Pepper
Age: Six years old
Gender: Female Breed: Miniature Schnauzer
Home: Bermuda

I got Pepper when she was just over two years old. I also got her best buddy, Dusty, at the same time. Dusty is also a Miniature Schnauzer, and he was still a puppy.

Pepper is a very active dog and has boundless energy. Her favorite thing in life, after food, is to chase lizards in the garden. She will spend hours racing around the garden looking for lizards. She always stops at plants and trees where she has seen lizards in the past to see if they are still there. If not, she will continue on to the next tree to continue the search. Lucky for the lizards she still hasn't caught any of them!

Pepper was born with a heart murmur which caused health problems as she got older. She would suddenly collapse in the garden when chasing lizards or playing with Dusty, and it would take her a while for her to recover from this. The vet diagnosed that Pepper required an Angioplasty, which is not available for animals in Bermuda. Pepper flew to Boston three times for the Angioplasty treatment in 2002 and 2003. Because of her size she was able to fit into a soft padded pet crate under the airplane seat in front of her Dad. Pepper was a major hit on the airplanes with the crew and passengers!

The Angioplasty was successful and Pepper received the all clear in September 2003. To celebrate the anniversary she and Dusty recently had a "Schnauzer Party". Four other Schnauzers came to the party with their owners and friends. The party was great fun and all the dogs and visitors went away with a loot bag each.

Pepper loves to play with her toys, and Dusty loves to play tug of war with her and the toys. All her toys are called "Monkey", because that was her very first toy.

Pepper is a lively, adventurous rascal, who brings laughter and joy to all who know her.
