This
is my type-A personality beagle mix, Maggie. She's three years old and
shows no signs of slowing down. She's very protective of us and very
bossy. I've seen her make a 100 pound dog submit to her. Although hyper
and demanding, she's very loving and sweet and knows how to win everyone
over.
Maggie is very affectionate and loving to all people but when it comes
to other dogs she's extremely territorial and bossy. She plays with
other dogs by taking their toy and running away with it so that they
will chase her. She knows sit, stay, lay down, roll over, fetch and a
really cute trick called "scratch my back" where I kneel down and with
my back towards her and tell her to scratch my back. She stands on her
hind legs and literally scratches my back with her front paws (as if she
were scratching at the door).
Her favorite game is fetch. I get so tired of throwing the ball that I
use a tennis racket to serve it. She's both affectionate and
independent. We just moved into a new house with a doggie door and she
loves it. It gives her the freedom and independence she loves.
We got her from a shelter when she was just eight weeks old. The shelter
owner said that she was found in a ditch with her mom and three brothers and
sisters. The lady at the shelter said that she was a Beagle/Cocker
Spaniel mix. I don't really see the cocker spaniel though. She
definitely has the intelligence and feisty personality of a JRT!
