Tinkerbell, the Dog of the Day
Name: Tinkerbell
Age: Two years old
Gender: Female Breed: Chihuahua
Home: Kansas City, Kansas, USA

I first met Tinkerbell on Saturday, June 12, 2004, at a local rescue organization's annual reunion picnic. My parents and I had taken two of our Chihuahuas, Ruby and Rosy, to the picnic. One of the volunteers' significant others was fostering Tinkerbell. I immediately fell in love with her. Tinkerbell came to the rescue organization because she had been surrendered by her previous owner, a college student. The college student felt that Tinkerbell was too hyper. What? This dog is the ultimate lap dog. My mom and I came to the conclusion that the college student didn't have enough time for Tinkerbell. The college student had adopted Tinkerbell in February 2004 right after the puppy mill where Tinkerbell lived caught on fire. I told the volunteer's significant other that I would adopt Tinkerbell if he didn't. I kept telling everyone she was going to be my dog. The next day, the volunteer and her significant other brought Tinkerbell over to my house for me to adopt. I was excited (and still am!).

Today Tinkerbell is one happy Chihuahua. She has Ruby and Rosy for companionship. My mom is home all day while I am at work. Tinkerbell is definitely spoiled. She sleeps with me at night in a warm cozy bed.

I hope to enjoy many happy years with Tinkerbell! (I later found out that there had been six offers to adopt Tinkerbell at the picnic!) Here's a picture of Tinkerbell sitting on my keyboard tray in July 2004. I was getting ready for work one morning. I turned around and Tinkerbell had climbed up on my keyboard from my computer chair. It's one my favorite pictures.
