One
cold, rainy December night, I was walking my dog Cody. We saw a dog
walking down the street by himself, with his head down. I squatted down
and opened my arms wide. He was cautious and afraid - but he came right
to me.
He had on a collar but no tags. He also had almost no fur. He was in
tatters - open wounds all over his body, infections, his skin was gray.
When my husband and I got him inside, he curled up in a ball and went to
sleep.
We had lost our wonderful little terrier-mix, Clyde, a few months
earlier. So there was room in our home and our hearts for Buster.
Buster turned out to be a wonderful dog. He is extremely smart,
unbelievably loving, fiercely loyal, and the most obedient dog I have
ever known. He has some aggression problems because of the abuse he
suffered as a puppy, so he can't play off the leash with other dogs.
Except for Cody! Buster is always sweet and gentle with her - even when
she torments him!
People are sometimes afraid of Buster because they are prejudiced
against pit bulls. But we love our B so much!
