My
name is Jake. My family calls me "Hands" because they think I'm so
handsome. They think I am the most special pet in the world because I
love them sooo much. My family saved me from a county animal shelter
when I was just eight months old. My mom is the best. She feeds me, talks
sweet to me, pets me softly on the ears, takes me to the doctor when I
don't feel well, and bathes me. My dad plays fetch with me and
rough-houses with me all the time. My sister takes me on long walks.
I'm a silly boy. I bark at other dogs through the window but I just want
to play with them. During thunder storms, I follow my mom everywhere.
You see, storms really scare me and I know she will protect me and keep
me safe. I know what my family says when they speak to me. I know what a
"cookie" is and I shake hands when they ask. I also know where to find
my "toys" when my family is ready to play with me. And when I hear the
word "walk", I go crazy with excitement because I know it's time to get
my leash and go and see my friends in the neighborhood. I sit with my
leash in my mouth until it's time to go.
My family has given me a happy home with lots of love. They treat me
just like one of them. That's what makes me so special.
