Enzo
had only been with us for about two months at the time of this
photo, and is the sweetest, gentlest fellow despite having been
abandoned.
That's right. Enzo's previous owner had anticipated taking him to Europe
but apparently there was a snag with paperwork at the airport. Rather
than miss his flight, the owner released Enzo outside of Los Angeles
International. For three months Enzo wandered the streets eating out of
garbage cans until he finally collapsed on someone's front yard.
Luckily, that kind person called the vet number on Enzo's collar.
The vet, who had no obligation to do anything for Enzo, drove many miles
to come pick him up and take care of him. Enzo was thirty pounds
underweight and had a minimal chance of survival. But, the entire vet
office cared for him as if he were their own. He eventually gained
enough weight to be released to a rescue organization in Los Angeles -
Friends for Pets. That is where we fell in love with him.
Enzo is currently going to doggie obedience school and is a quick
learner. His - and our - greatest challenge is that he suffers from
severe separation anxiety. And who can blame him? Enzo is indeed
special. For a dog with such a tough life at such an early age, he
harbors no ill feelings toward anyone. He has brought so much laughter
and love into our home that we can't imagine a life without him.
