We
got Gretchen (we sometimes spell her name Groetchen) when she was eight
months old. An older couple owned her and said that she was just too
wild for them to handle. She shared her first home with cats (who slept
with her) and Lhasa Apsos who lived in boxes, growling at her as she
walked past. Gretchen had been spayed at six months, and also had surgery
to remove a blockage caused by eating three pigs ears. When we got her home
we discovered that she was barely housebroken and loved to run. After
an unsuccessful attempt at using an invisible fence we had a chain-link fence
installed.
Gretchen is very intelligent and loves to play. Her best friend is a
eight-pound male Shih Tzu, he sneaks under the fence as often as possible
for play time. Even though she is a Petite (for a German Shepherd) 58
pounds, it is a sight to behold! Gretchen is very special to us all.
