Dusty
became the baby of our family nine years ago. Dusty is a Shetland
Sheepdog, also known as a sheltie. Shelties were bred in the Shetland
Islands near Scotland and the breed was bred for herding. Since we live
in the country, Dusty loves herding cows and birds. Shelties have a
piercing bark and love to talk. Dusty is no exception and will bark for
cookies.
Shelties are very intelligent and agile and excel in agility and
obedience training. All I have to do is say agility and Dusty goes to
the door and is ready to go. And he is a handsome boy that loves posing
for the camera. We play an enrichment game in the house on rainy days
that is called "The Cheese Game." I hide pieces of cheese all over the
house and Dusty finds them. It is one of his favorite games.
Dusty loves his mommy and never leaves her side. He even sleeps with
me. This little dog is a very special boy. I have never had a dog that
was so loyal.
