This
is Chewbaca Nachobellgrande a.k.a. Chewie. We rescued Chewie four years
ago when we lived in Charleston, South Carolina. We had never had a dog
before and were looking for a dog under 30 pounds because of a weight
restriction at our apartment complex. We went to a local animal shelter
and put our name on a list and were not thinking that we'd ever hear
back because small breeds were uncommon to go through that area. The
next day we got a call! We rushed there after work and were shown this
little tiny sickly looking Chihuahua. Chewie was only four pounds, had
been found on the side of a highway with a broken rib. He was so cute
and cuddly and we just knew right away that we would take him home. He
had to be neutered, so we were able to pick him up the next day and were
given a long list of to-do's because he was sick. He has been the best
dog ever since.
He's now seven pounds but thinks he is 70. He has moved from South Carolina
to Connecticut to Michigan and moved into his very first house with a
backyard in June. He is the ultimate watchdog and loves to wait for
dogs to come to the back fence and play with him. His Chihuahua brother
Jake is his best friend and they are inseparable. Jake is very shy and
Chewie takes good care of him, always licking his face and making sure
he is okay. Chewie's favorite things in life are : sitting on his couch
looking out the window, eating marrowbones, snuggling with his mommy and
daddy in bed, going for really long walks, terrorizing big dogs in the
neighborhood and eating chicken! He also loves to meet new people and
get lots of attention. He's quite the social butterfly! I am thankful
every day that my husband and I have Chewie and hope that he lives for
years and years. We hope you enjoy his picture that was taken in his
yard last fall. He loved the leaves and then he loved the snow!
